We recommend you book a minimum of 6 weeks in advance of your departure, as some vaccinations may require a series of injections.

Travel advice is NOT covered by OHIP. The consultation fee reimburses the healthcare provider and nurse for the time taken to prepare for your visit and the time taken to give you travel advice as well as any vaccines that would need to be administered. Travel advice is NOT covered by OHIP. The consultation fee reimburses the healthcare provider and nurse for the time taken to prepare for your visit and the time taken to give you travel advice as well as any vaccines that would need to be administered.

The costs for the vaccine(s) will be billed separately by your pharmacy. Please speak with your pharmacist for further details.

Adult patients 16 years of age and older are required to pay a $70 CAD consultation fee. Children 15 years of age and younger are required to pay a $40 CAD consultation fee. A receipt will be issued for you to reimburse to your insurance company for assessment of reimbursement.

Private Insurance

Please check with your insurance company for travel insurance coverage eligibility. While insurance plans vary, many insurance providers do not cover travel vaccines under standard policies, even if administered by a family doctor.

Some private health care plans through employers will pay for some travel vaccines and medications.

Travelers are advised to obtain Travel Health Insurance prior to their trip.

If you feel sick after your trip, seek medical attention. MedCare Connect can put you in touch with a healthcare facility and provider so that you can discuss where you traveled, the duration of your stay and your symptoms.

Once you submit your appointment request through the MedCare Connect website, you will be connected with the next available healthcare facility and provider. An appointment confirmation date and time will be sent to you by email. Patients can expect to be seen within 2-4 hours from the time the appointment request has been received at our clinic.
